I used 5/16" OD copper tubing which isn't all that large in diameter so I couldn't vouche for larger diameters.Only hiccup was dissolving the salt to clear the coil. Jan 07, 2016 Much on youtube too. For coiling 7/8th inch tubing though, I think a guy could do a lot worse than to make a coiling form with a size matched groove in it, out of wood. Either cut the groove with a lathe of jig a router up to make it, wind the coil, then remove it from the form. There will be a bit of springback, so plan accordingly. Cheers Trev

Copper is pretty soft, you can bend it by hand. Use something round and hard of appropriate diameter as a guide, and just crank the pipe around it. You can fill the pipe with sand to prevent kinks, but it will make it a bit harder to bend. Heating it with a blow-torch will help.
